What Should I Do About Something Like A Blister On My Eyeball Near The Corner Of My Eye?

I found a blister on my eye ball. It is near the corner of my eye on the white. Found it yesterday. I am 72 and have a torn retina on right eye but this is the left eye. It is not painful at all. I have doctors for retina, upcoming cataract surgery, and ophthalmologist. Will call someone tomorrow, Which one?

Hello,

Get clinically examined by an ophthalmologist. It can be blepharitis, if it is a bump, it may be indicative of chalazion or cyst. In the meantime, you should take proper care of your hygiene of your eyes and eyelids. This will include thorough, but gentle cleaning of the eyelids, face, and scalp regularly.

Your symptoms may be indicative of inclusion cyst of the conjunctiva. It commonly occurs on the conjunctiva, on the white part of the eye. It is harmless but for cosmetic purpose they can be drained and surgically removed. These cysts are also self-limiting.

You can apply Optibex tear drops eye drops or Refresh tear drops eye drops. 2-3 drops three times a day. It will subside naturally. If the cyst is painless and not giving rise to any eye problem, it can be left alone with use of lubricating eye drop. In case it is persistent then your treating doctor will prescribe antibiotic eye drops.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
