What Should I Do As Developed Bump On My Thumb?

Just recently developed a bump at the base of my thumb on my right hand. Only thing that happened recently was picking up a sheet of 3/4 MDF board. The bump is rather hard and not mobile. It is very painful if I move my thumb upwards. Becomes painful when holding a glass as well.
