What Should I Do If An Old Woman Showed Seizure Like Symptoms?
I am staying with an 87 yr old woman and when I arrived she vomited, said she felt sick all day felt pressure in her head. She was very pale and then got red blotches on her face. She is taking Prozac and when I was here two weeks ago I witnessed her momentarily lose control of her right arm and leg and almost fall....she calls it the wobbles it looked almost like some kind of seizure, to me although like I say maybe only lasted seconds and then stopped.says she told gp that she had tremors and the dr said she wouldn t increase dosage like she had planned but would leave her on 2per day. Should I insist she goes back to dr and if so say what?
HI.THANKS FOR YOUR QUERY.FIRST LET ME CLARIFY THAT PROZAC IS AN ANTIDEPRESENT WHICH IS RELATIVELY FREE OF SIDE EFFECTS.,BUT CONSIDERING THE AGE GROUP OF THIS WOMAN ,CERTAIN SIDE EFFECTS CAN ARISE .SHE NOW NEEDS TO BE SCREENED FOR ANEMIA,HEMIPLEGIA/HEMIPARESIS/STROKE FOR HER MOMEMTARY WOBBLES.CT SCAN BRAIN WOULD BE HIGHLY HELPFUL.HER RED BLOTCHES NEEDS FURTHER PLATELET AND COAGULATION STUDIES.THE TREMORS COULD BE A DRUG SIDE EFFECT.IT WILL BETTER OFF IS SHE USES PROZAC AT LOWEST POSSIBLE DOSES ONLY ONCE A DAY.KINDLY ADRESS YOUR DOCTOR WITH ALL THESE REQUIREMENTS ON YOUR NEXT VISIT.THANK YOU
