What Should Be Done To The Toe Nail Which Has Stopped Growing And Swollen?
Hi, recently ive discovered that my big toenail on my left foot has stopped growing, the cuticle has disappeared and my toe is red and hot and a little swollen around the nail bed, however the nail is still intact with skin below. Could you suggest what to do? I do not want my toenail removed!
You seem to have paronychia on the big toenail, infection around the nail plate. It can be bacterial or fungal.
Apply warm water soaks on the nails 3-4 times a day, consult your physicial for a short course of oral antibiotic like cephalexin or amoxyclav. Take oral anti inflammatory like ibuprofen twice a day to reduce swelling and pain.
Hope I helped
