What Should Be The Blood Sugar Range In A Diabetic Person?

Hi I am a diabetic patient from a year and using metformin 850mg twice a day. My average blood sugar range from 120-130. Now I again done a routine checkup in which my hb1ac is normal 5.3. The doctor prescribed medication for one day only. But when I test my blood glucose from glucometer the results ranges from 140-160. Now what I do, can I increase my medication or stick my doctor prescription.

Hello,

The HbA1c levels are within normal range and this means that you have been having well controlled glucose levels. The levels of glucose you have seen are a bit high but not quite high and I believe you should change your diet and do more exercises to bring them within normal range.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
