What Should Be The Normal Range Of Hemoglobin Level During Pregnancy?
I am 30 weeks pregnant(8th month)and I had a blood test last week that is haemoglobin test, it is 9.8 g/dl .I want to know exactly what should be the normal range of haemoglobin at this stage.9.8 is normal or less?I also want to know what is the maximum haemoglobin required during delivery.please doctor can you tell me as soon as possible.thank you.
Hello,
History noted. Normal range of hemoglobin in females is 12-15 g/dl.
In pregnancy there will be hemodilution and the level of hemoglobin will decrease and that is the reason iron in the form of tablets or syrup is supplemented.
In pregnancy normal range varies from 11-12g/dl.As per WHO in developing countries level of 10g/dl holds good.
9.8g/dl is less than the normal limit, but it does not mean it will affect the normal delivery. If you are maintaining the same level or improving 1-2grams/dl is fine. So kindly continue the iron supplement you have been prescribed till delivery. No need to worry about strict level of this for a normal delivery.
Relax, Good day.
