Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 65 year old female, height 5 ft 3 inches, 140 pounds. My cholestrol is just above normal, and my doctor has a liver profile check done every 4-6 months, because some enzymes are usually high. What does it mean when my liver profile shows AST count at 42 and ALT count at 67?
There is nothing to worry. Though ALT is slightly high but its considered normal. Usually ALT or AST values higher than "two times the upper normal limit", is considered abnormal ( in some countries, ALT or AST values of more than 100 are considered abnormal). So you need not worry.
hope to answer your concern. wish you good and sound health.
regards DR Tayyab Malik
