Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Symptoms Indicate Depression In A OCD Patient?
I think I might have depression. I ve been losing interest in the things I previously used to enjoy, I m tired all the time, have no energy and for some reason can t seem to shake off the past (possibly due to some bad medical experiences). To make matters worse, I have OCD (which I ve tried CBT for but didn t work). Do you think I have depression? If you do, can you help me find out what treatment options there are out there for me to get control of my life?
Very likely the lack of interest and tiredness and having it difficult to leave the past behind might be due to depression. Depression is very common in patients with OCD. There are treatments to help with depression and these would be SSRI which are the first choice and the typical medications in this class would be sertraline, citalopram, etc. You will need a doctor to prescribe these and follow you up to find the dose you need and make sure you are doing well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
