My three year old son was playing with a friend who was throwing him up in the air. He was accidentally throw up too high and hit his head in the solid wooden doorway. No signs like vomiting or change in behavior. Its been 24 hours and he seems to be talking and playing as usual. Is there anything else I need to worry about or look for?
Well it seems like your son had a mild traumatic head injury due to the impact of the hit . Since its already been 24hrs , the major concern part is over. But there can be some late features like headache, nausea, dizziness etc. due to concussion injury.
Since your son is talking and playing as usual you don't need to worry about for now. There can be development of a bump though where he got hit(just put some ice-pack over it- if at all happens).
Well all you need to do is to watch him for the next 2-3 days or so. If there's any change in his behaviour like - sudden onset severe vomiting/severe headache/continuous crying/fits/abnormal jerky movements of body parts etc. then only you need to be concerned and in that case just check into your nearest ER , get a CT scan of head for further evaluation.
Once again I'm repeating - if there's none of those symptoms that you've asked for then you don't need to worry at all.
Have a good day and let me know how your son stays in your next follow-up
