What To Do As My Pet Poodle Bit Me?

hi my pet poodle bit me or nipped me when i was giving him his medicine small bite but did break the skin (last nite)now it seems to be red and inflamed put alcohol on it and polysporin its so small feel silly going to er because its saturday and drs is closed

Welcome to HCM,

Rabies is a disease which is transmitted by the dog, which is 100% fatal but it is 100% preventable by proper and adequate treatment.

As you have been bit by your pet poodle. As there was a bleeding from the site of bite it is categorized into Cat III bite according to WHO categories and it is necessary to take both the active and passive immunization with Antirabies vaccine and Antirabies serum respectively.

You have to take both antirabies vaccine and antirabies serum, You have to receive all the doses of antirabies vaccine on days 0, 3, 7, 14 and 28 (If your pet poodle is healthy after three dose of vaccine, you can discontinue the antirabies vaccine) and antirabies serum (Rabies immunoglobulin) on day 0 in and around the wound.

In addition to this you should take Inj TT and antibiotic like tab Augmentin for 5 days.
