What To Do As My Vein Has Swollen Severely?

So I was playing kickball last night, and went to kick the ball with some pretty good force, it took a bounce at the last minute and my shin took the brunt of the impact. Immediately afterwards, a vein in my leg along my shin swelled up to about an inch in width, I could see about 8 inches in length of the vein that was severely swollen. What happened and do I need to get this checked out soon?

Hi I am Dr Fahim.
I welcome you to healthcare magic. I will help you with your query . . .

The swelling you mentioned is about an inch in width and 8 inch in length.
I appears to be Haematoma; which is a collection of blood because of ruptured small vessels.

FEW QUESTIONS TO EXCLUDE POTENTIAL EMERGENCY CONDITONS
- THE PAIN IS NOT INAPPROPRIATELY SEVERE?
- THERE IS NO PAIN ON MOVING YOUR FINGERS PASSIVELY?
- THERE IS NO ALTERED SENSATION IN THE FOOT, TINGLING, BURNING, NUMBNESS ETC

If no just symptom is there, then compartment syndrome is excluded

This Haematoma can easily be treated conservatively by
- Rest _avoid excessive movements
- Elevation _keep your leg elevated one feet
- Ice _ice application will decrease the congestion by causing blood vessel constriction
- Compression _compression to be applied esp when moving around
Also take ibuprofen 400mg 1+1 for pain. the haematoma will resolve in few weeks time

Wishing you rapid recovery. Do rate my answer if you like it and feel free to ask any further queries you have.

Regards
