What To Do For Baby Not Sleeping And Chokes While Feeding?

Hello Dr., My son is five weeks and weighs 4.9 kgs. He is on exclusive breast feed. He hasn't been sleeping well and wakes up after 5 minutes of falling in deep sleep. The main reason of getting up is something coming upto his mouth which he swallows. This causes him discomfort and ends up in his crying. Could this be a case of silent reflux? He hiccups a lot and often chokes while feeding. Please advise on which medicines to be taken.

Best regards
Arpita

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Gastro esophageal reflux is common.
Keep the baby in left lateral position with head end down during sleep.
give thickened feeds in propped up position.
It usually passes off by 1 year and latest by 18 months.
Nothing to worry.
usually medicines are not required.
Colimex drops may be used 3-4 times a day if needed.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
