What To Do For Depression And Abnormal Mental Health?
Sir, I have a close relative of mine who says he listen different voices of the known persons like colleagues in his brain who abuse him and persuade him to do wrong. He is in a sort of depression and says they always communicate with me. We tried many doctors in this regard but all failed. Please do guide me what to do as nowadays he keeps crying and remains depressed .
By what you explain your relative seems to have psychosis and specific treatment for psychosis is needed. Depression is likely in patients with psychosis but is generally secondary, due to the stress they go through. In this case the primary diagnosis is psychosis and the depression is as a result of it. Treatment for psychosis and an antidepressant is needed as well. He needs a good follow up with a good psychiatrist. I would not recommend changing doctors as this will not help with his treatment, sometimes doctors need to try different treatments till they find what is appropriate for the patient. Changing doctors will just make this process long and your relative will have his symptoms untreated.
I hope this is helpful and answers to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
