What To Do For Fever And Heaviness Feeling In Throat And Tongue Due To Sinusitis?

I went to a urgent care last Friday and was diagnosed with sinusitis. It is now Thursday and I have taken the antibiotic and I am feeling tired and running a low grade fever of 99.2 - 99.8 during the day . My throat and tongue have a heavy feel . Just like I would with a sinus infection . Shouldn't I feel better or do you think I need to go back and change antibiotic?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi

Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum

Antibiotic may not be effective for this particular case. Hence, talk to your doctor to consider changing the medicines. Also, request him to prescribe you mucolytics and saline nasal spray.

Meanwhile, you need to follow few household remedies such as:
1. Drinking plenty of warm water.
2. Steam inhalation 3-4 times a day, for 2-3 minutes.
3. Saline nasal spray, for nasal decongestion, opening up of the sinuses and easy clearance of the mucus.
4. Avoid coffee, fizzzy drinks, smoking (if you do so), chilled food and beverages

Regards
