What To Do For Skipped Or Fast Heartbeat When Having Borderline Hyperthyroid?
I am 29,5 7 and weigh 133. My resting heart rate is between 95 and 100. I also have borderline hyperthyroid with all the symptoms (moody, hard time sleeping, tremors weight loss out of nowhere, fatigue ect). I also have nodules on my thyroid. Sometimes my heart rate skips beats or gets up to about 115. But since Im only borderline they wont treat me (two of my aunts have been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and have had their thyroid taken out). Should I get a second opinion on my condition, do you think I should b getting treated. The only thing my hospital does is drain my nodule, which hasn t been done in 5 years plus
Hi, You havent mentioned your hormone levels. We need your Free T4 and TSH levels to decide on treatment. Some people have a condition called subclinical hyperthyroidism where your Free T4 is normal but TSH is suppressed. This is commonly associated with a functioning thyroid nodule. If you have symptoms, that need to be treated. Some people reuire beta blockers alone for symptom control. We need to do a nuclear scan to see if your thyroid nodules are hyperfunctioning. If they do, then you may require tablets followed by suregery or Radio iodine treatment.
You must discuss with your endocrinologist
