What To Do For The Swelling In The Back Along With Discomfort?

I pulled something in my lower back on the left side (lifting and turning at the same time) I started feeling better three days later, but I woke up a few days ago and it came back with, it seems to hurt mostly in the prone position, so sleeping has been very difficult. In fact it gets so bad ,I wake from a sound sleep. I have been taking motrin, which has helped, and rubbing arnica oil. There is a little swelling in the area. What is most disturbing is I work in a warehouse type of job, and that is when I feel the most relief, lifting and walking (just not going up and down a ladder). What is going on and what would you suggest (especially for sleeping).
