What To Do If Folliculitis Has Spread All Over The Body In Spite Of Maintaining Hygiene In A Child?

My 14 yr old daughter has had folliculitis for 3 years. She has been on heavy doses of antibiotics, steroids and 0.5 % of Triamcinolone, along with washing with cetaphil soap. I wash her sheets, blanket , clothes and towels everyday. It has recently spread to 60% of her body. What else can be done??

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

If it is folliculitis then doctors do not use steroids for the same. The diagnosis must be different. There could be other problems like scabies, eczema etc which mimic the same. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist for a second opinion. After a physical examination he will prescribe the necessary treatment.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
Actually folliculitis is a common, and simple infection, with out any complications, when it is chronic, and recurrent, needs extensive treatment, with simultaneous investigations.
I advise you to consult a dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment. You may need to have culture and sensitivity of the discharge, to find the organism and to treat accordingly. The test is repeated weekly, and judge the treatment.
It should be found whether the triggering factors like diabetes are present.Anemia if present should be corrected.
Take more of green leafy vegetables, pulses, sprouts, and protein rich foods to have blood, general health and resistance against infections.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
