What To Do If Gaining Weight In Breast And Waist While On Thyroid Medication?
Hi There, I have a few issues I have a thyroid problems which i take medication for but don t think the dosage is proper and I recently quit smoking for about a month and 1/2 and have been putting on weight even though I work out for 60 minutes 4x a week on my treadmill at the speed of 3.5 mph so I went from a 5 9 inch med frame weighing 160Lbs to about 190Lbs-unfortunately most of this weight goes to my waist and my breast which is really making things difficult plus I think I am going through menopause as I am 48 yrs young. Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello Welcome to HCM Thanks for posting your query I understand your concerns. Gaining 30lbs within 1 month is quite diagnostic of hypothyroidism. I would advice you to check out your thyroid profile especially TSH levels.
If TSH levels are high, you need to take a proper dosage of tab. Thyronorm after consulting your endocrinologist.
Also don't leave your work up.
Hope this helps you
Thank you
