What To Do If Having Chest Pain And Shoulder Pains On The Right Side And Also Have A Pulmonary Nodule In The Right Lung?

41 year old female with chest pains off and on for the past 3 weeks had ekg done today results say right atrial abnormality but the heart doctor did not say anything about it except I need to get a echo and a stress test. these chest pains are always on the right side and radiate to my right shoulder blade and lung area. also have a pulmonary nodule in my right lung but my nurse practioner seems to think I should just have a ct scan once a year and keep an eye on it.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for your query.
I think your heart doctor had found nothing significant in your ECG report and that's why he rightly advised for an echocardiography and a stress test. Regarding the nodule in the lung you should consult a pulmonologist and he will probably assess the probability of cancer of your nodule. If the probability is low then you should have follow up CT scan on 3rd, 6th, 18th, 24th month and if probability is high then you should have a CT guided biopsy of that nodule to reach a diagnosis.
Thank you.
Regards,
Dr Arnab Maji
