What To For The Tenderness And Discomfort In The Head Due To A Hit?

Hi, About 6 weeks ago I recieived a deep laceration above my left eyebrow playing soccer and colliding with another players teeth. Since then my wound has healed but the top left side of my head feels tender and makes it difficult to wash hair and sleep on that side or my head. Can a doctor explain what is happening and what I can do to recover quickly? Thanks!

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.


I can understand your concern. As you are still having pain at injury site, it needs evaluation.

Feel it for any swelling, raised temperature at local site. It could be due to infection. Sometimes pus collection can occur at injury site in open wound.

For management, wound must be cleaned and pus must be drained. Antibiotic course like co-amoxyclav therapy will be given to you to cure infection. You should consult doctor for wound dressing and antibiotic therapy.


Another cause can be due to underlying bony injury like frontal bone fracture which got missed. It can be confirmed by CT scan of head.

In case of fracture, you need rest. You can take painkiller like Diclofenac sodium for relief. Skull bone fracture heals on its own. You can apply Diclofenac gel at pain site to fasten relief.
