What Treatment Can Be Done For Sharp Knee Pain Below Knee Cap ?

Hi I'm a teenager that has a very sharp knee pain whenever I do any kicking footwork or running. The pain is just below the kneecap (patella) and its gradually gos away overnight and then partway through the day from 11:00 to 2:00 I'll shoot some hoops and it'll kick in again for almost the rest of the day. I've had this for about 4 weeks now but it has gradually gotten worse. I think I aggravated it from placekicking for my football team 1 1/2 months ago. do you have any ideas on what it may be? Or any treatments.
