The sharp pain in the throat could be acute pharyngitis, which has also caused swelling of the glands. I would suggest you to consult your ENT specialist for a complete examination and to start you on antibiotics. Till then drink plenty of warm water, use povidone iodine throat gargles 3-4 times/day after food. Avoid chilled items and oily food for few days.
