What Treatment Do You Suggest For Intense Pain Due To An Injury On Wrist?
I was snowboarding and I fell backwards on my hand and must have twisted my wrist or something cuz it hurt really bad- i was sitting there cradling it and rocking because it hurt so much. Anyway, I kept snowboarding and fell on it at least 4 more times- each with the same or worse degree of pain than the last. But at the end of the day it never did swell. At all. But it hurt to bend it much- especially bending it downwards- and even then the worst pain was when I tried to move my index finger or thumb downwards. Also it hurt to put pressure on the top/center of my wrist (and I could trace the pain down my arm a few inches from there) I also was unable to pick anything up with that hand or open doors, squeeze toothpaste- simple stuff. 5 days later now- I'm still having those issues but it's much less intense and less painful- and I can pick up drinks with it. So I guess it'll get better but I'm just curious as to what exactly it was that I did to it. Muscle/tendon sprain/strain? I have no idea...
I would first of all advice you to not take your injury lightly. The pain might be subsiding for now....but in the long run it is going to become an issue. Soft tissue or bone injury if not given proper rest for the initial 3 to 6 weeks become headache for a lifetime.
Immediately get an Xray done and get it evaluated by an orthopedician.
Get a below elbow plaster put for a minimum period of three weeks ........as no matter how careful one may be,.it is nearly impossible to give the injured area the kind of rest it needs.
Forget sporting activities for now. Start on a good anti inflammatory medicine like nucoxia for two weeks. Take a good calcium and multivitamin supplement.
I hope my advice has helped Good luck
