Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experience tendonitis (golfers elbow) since I began strength training about 15 months ago. I was performing inverted rows earlier this week and had a snap in my left forearm which was somewhat painful when it occurred. The pain isn t bothering me when in a resting state but I notice pain when in my forearm and some in the bicep area when I twist my arm since I experienced this snapping. What could have happened and what treatment is recommended?
Golfer's elbow is usually caused by overuse of the muscles in the forearm that allow you to rotate your arm and flex your wrist. Repetitive flexing, gripping or swinging can cause pulls or tiny tears in the tendons close to where they are attached to the bone. Treatment include the following:
You will need to rest the elbow and avoid movements that aggravate the problem, use splint or strap to prevent pulling of the injured tendon. Take ibuprofen tablets, to reduce pain and swelling
If the symptoms are troublesome contact the orthopedic doctor you may be given an injection of a corticosteroid, usually mixed with a local anaesthetic. Regards!
