What Treatment Is Recommended For This CT Scan Result In A Diabetic Patient?
Hey! Iam an medical student my grand mother made a C.T scan and the doctor said that there are an enlargment in the lymph nodes around the aorta and in the abdomin and he suspected she has a lymphoma actually she is diabetic pt.can you give me information about this please??!
Hello and welcome to HCM, Enlarged lymph nodes can occur due to infections, inflammation, metastasis and lymphoma. Enlarged of visceral lymph node raises the suspicion of lymphoma. However, tuberculosis is another cause of enlarged visceral lymph nodes. A clinical correlation and aspiration of lymph nodes is required. The visceral lymph nodes around aorta and in abdomen may not be technically easy. However, if there are palpable lymph nodes, they can be aspirated. The aspirated material can be examined microscopically to know the nature of lesion and thus plan its management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
