What Treatment Is Suggested For Bleeding In Ear?

My son who is 2 years and 9 months stuck a q-tip too far in his ear and it started bleeding not too long after. He kept holding his ear. I m scared and unsure of what to do. He s asleep now but didn t know if he s in critical state to where I need to take him to the ER asap or schedule a doctors appt as soon as I can get him in. The bleeding has stopped.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
I can understand your concern.

You should contact your doctor at the earliest. That could be because of damage to the tympanic membrane or to the ear wall. A examination by your doctor will help to identify the cause. Do not let any water enter the ear. Take preventive steps to prevent such things happening in future.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
