What Type Of Diet Is Recommended For A Patient Suffering From Pneumonia?

Hello.. My dad z a diabetic patient( from past 15 to 20 years). Now he is suffering from pneumonia and the serum creatinine and urea levels are elevated. Doctor has suggested to do dialysis. Steroid therapy is going on. After few days ( in september)doctor will tell whether it is necessary to perform dialysis frequently or not. Now my question is what type of food he has to eat and how much ml of fluid he can drink per day? Can you please help me by sending the proper diet list ?

Hi,

The principles of kidney impairment diet are:
Protein restricted at least 1gm/kg body weight on dialysis
Salt restriction 2 gms at least, if not, add extra salt 2 to 3 gms salt sachets available
Water intake limit if less urine excerpting, usually urine output + 500 ml altogether around 1 liter.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
