What Type Of Ear Infection My 10 Months Old Is Having?

my 10 month old son has just been prescribed co-amoxiclav to treat an ear infection. The original prescription was for amoxycillan, however swabs taken from the infected ear have led the doctor to chnage the prescription. Wat kind of infetcion is it and how did he contract it?

Hello. I just read through your question. It seems your son has a middle ear infection, otherwise known as acute otitis media. This is a very common infection in the pediatric age range. It can often start with a simple upper respiratory infection like a cold. However, many times there is no preceding infection. You doctor has put him in the correct antibiotic and I expect he will be fully cured.
