What Type Of Post Care Is Recommended After Partial Knee Replacement?
I have osteoarthritis and found it three years ago and have been putting off any kind of surgery because I m just very nervous. Now possibly I m going to have partial knee replacement. i m worried about walking and running and climbing stairs since I live in a three-story townhouse. What advice do you have for me
After partial knee replacement, there are fantastic results with hands of expert ortho-surgeon. After the stitches removal at a period of 15 days, under the coverage of systemic antibiotics to prevent wound infection, gradual physiotherapy goes on for a period of 3-6 months depending upon the clinical scenario.
The movements of walking is advised soon in post operative period as early as 3-4th day. Running usually allowed after about 2-3 months. Climbing stairs is also midway of walking and running. However, your operative surgeon is best personnel to guide you further in this regard.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
