What Worse Can Happen If Synthroid 12mg In Stopped While Having History Of Thyroid Removal And RA?
ok thanks I had part of my thyroid removed in 2008 and have been on synthroid 12mg since then. I have lost my health insurance and had to stop all of my prescriptions. What is the worst that will happen if I do not resume this prescription. I also have RA
Thyroxine replacement is needed for the normal body functions. If you stop the medications you may feel tired, may mild have memory loss, dry skin and may have constipation. These symptoms may develop in around 40-50% of patients. Medical complications include elevated cholesterol levels and increased risk of heart disease. So it is advisable to continue synthyroid. If you find it difficult to re start it i would suggest you to do a lipid profile after 2 months and should restart if your cholesterols are elevated.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
