What Would Be The Harmless Red Swelling Under The Lip Be?

My 9 year old son has a red (little darker then his gum) 'bump' under his lip above his teeth on the left side. It is not noticable just looking at him. He stated that he felt it yesterday. No complaints yesterday. He started complaining about it a few minutes ago. I have given him some childrens advil to ease the pain that he complains of. I do not see any 'white' spots on it. It just looks red. I am guessing the size of it is just slightly smaller than an inch. Any idea what this could be?

Hi Dear
Welcome to the HCM,
Small mole, hemangioma or the small lipoma may be the reason of such swelling.
Need to examined by the dermatologist to give you the spot diagnosis.
And according to the diagnosis it can be managed either surgically or left as it is.
Hope the query is answered.
Thanks
