What Would Indicate Severity Of Macular Degeneration ?

My husband was diagnosed today with macular degeneration. The doctor indicated it was bad. But he has not had any systems. He says he sees fine. He is 78 yrs. old. What would indicate how bad it is? The damage to the retina? I forgot to ask the doctor.

Hi,

You can print out an Amsler grid madam from the computer and make your husband look at it with one eye closed.

Keep it at a new reading distance. After that tell him where he can see any distortions of lines or any black spots.

That shows how ni hc the macular degeneration is and we can then measure the progress also with the help of the chart.
