Whats Causing A Dull Constant Ache From The Buttocks Right Down The Legs?
I have been experiencing a dull constant ache form my buttocks right down my legs both sides although worse on my left side. It s unbearable through the night. I have been taking ant inflammatory tablets which dull the pain only for a short time. Any ideas on what is likely to be the cause?
Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
The pain you just described might be due to some kind of pressure on the nerve roots exiting through the spinal canal. If I were your doctor, I would have advised you to avoid forward bending and lifting heavy weights if you do. At the same time, I would have also advised you to go for a MRI scan of your spine to exclude any such nerve compression. In such cases simple anti inflammatory might not work properly. I would next refer you to a orthopaedic surgeon with the report of the MRI, and he might manage your problem either conservativelyl with the help of some drugs and physiotherapy, or in an invasive/minimal invasive way if need be.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in planning your treatment. Thanks for using the health care magic forum for your query on health. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
