What's Causing High Heart Rates While Resting Along With Chest Pain, Shortness Of Breath, Fatigue In A 20 Yr Old With Heart Murmur?
Hi I recently was told I have a heart murmur and that my dr thinks it's a hole in my heart. I'm 20 years old and have been having high heart rates while resting (usually between 90-160) along with chest pain, shortness of breathe and extreme fatigue and weakness for about 2 years. Recently I've been having the chest pain around 5-6 times a day. I'm waiting on my cardiologist appointment but should I be concerned enough to go to the hospital before my appointment? What is causing this pain?
You should go to ER for a consult to exclude life threatening problems and than you should wait for you cardiologist.
The pain may be due to congenital heart disease and i recommend to do the following exams: - Ecg - Chest x ray - Cardiac ECHO - Holter monitoring This exams are needed for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Hope i answered to your query. DR. Benard
