When Can A Cleft Palate Be Identified In An Infant?
Ok ..my niece had a baby 5 mo. Ago the baby was born with his stomach on the outside his body.. The baby has lived all his life so far in the hospital. They are just finding out the baby has a Clift pallet ( today ) now the baby has fluid in his lil lungs.. They plan to take the baby off a vent on Monday... BUT children s hosp is wanting the baby transfered to them... It seems to me they should have BEEN KOWING about his Clift .. Could this have lead to him getting fluid in his lungs? It just seems to me considering the baby has been getting test after test after test for months they should have seen this... I m not understanding
Hello! Greetings to you. Read your query. For your information cleft palate is a congenital condition(seen since birth) where there will b a communication between the palate and nasal cavity. Usually their presence will b detected soon after birth. This is also one of the reason for fluid aspiration. But this would've been evident long before and corrected temporarily for feeding. Since the baby was born with complications as you've said, it is better to be under observation of a infant specialist. Hope I answered your query. Thanks for choosing HCM. Take care.
