When can I eat normally after Tonsillectomy it’s been two weeks since I had the surgery I had a major bleeding at day 7 but now I am healing well my doctor said I will be able to eat normal food after two weeks of the operation but I still can’t eat normally (it hurts) I lost a lot of weight and I feel tired all the time what should I do force myself to eat ;
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It's impossible for you to eat normally after tonsillectomy for now. You need to start your diet with liquids then semisolid then soft solids than normal solids.
Similarly, you should go step by step. Pain will always be there while eating but ask your doctor to give anti-inflammatory medicine to reduce swelling.
You can even take some painkillers but with a prescription. Just try taking semisolid for now 6 to 8 times per day, which is enough.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
