When Can Physical Activity Be Performed After Surgery For Skull Fracture?

I fractured my skull 7 weeks ago and they operated on me 2 days after I suffered this injury. I started back at work 4 weeks after my op and I began really light training back the gym around the same time. I would like to know when can I start running/jogging again and start participating in sports such as cricket.

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. It is good that you have almost recovered from your severe head injury. You have already started light work and i think you are comfortable in doing it. Regarding straining activities like running/jogging/cricket, there is no clear cut guidelines for how much time is needed to begin after skull surgery. It varies person to person.

Usually, a fracture heals in 3-6 months duration. So if you are avoiding it for fracture healing, then you can wait for 6 months. During these 6 months, you need to
: take proper diet,
: keep stretching your muscles,
: observe for any deficit or recurrent headache, syncopal attacks, fits, confusion, headache with vomiting.
If there is no such complaint, then it is good and you can start strenuous activities. If you are having any of above mentioned complaints, then you must not start any strenuous activity. You should regularly follow your treating surgeon for advise and evaluation.
I think it will help you.

Thanks. Take care.
