When Do Periods Begin After Taking Novelon?

Hi Sir, I m unmarried and 23 years old, I have hormones problem so I m not getting periods from long time. After I consulted gynecologist, she suggested Novelon for 21days to get periods and she said that after periods she will start treatment...Novelon for 21 days course has completed 2 days back, still.I didn t get period, what should I do???? Please suggest for further

Hello, thank you for using Healthcaremagic. I read your query and I understand your concern. Novelon is a low dose combined oral contraceptive pill and is used as an effective means of birth control to prevent unwanted pregnancy. Novelon contraceptive pills contain a combination of two hormones at low doses in a single pill. Each pack of Novelon contains one month’s supply of pills of which there are 21 hormone-containing pills and 7 placebo (non-hormonal) pills, to allow each monthly cycle to end with a withdrawal bleed. When using Novelon for contraception, you will probably find that your periods become more regular and you may also experience lighter, less painful menstruation and an improvement in pre-menstrual symptoms, like bloating, swelling or weight gain related to fluid retention; also an improvement in acne and reductions in greasiness of the skin and hair. After taking 21 tablets you have to take even 7other placebo tabletes or dont take anything for 7 days then your period will come.
