General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The causes of delayed period are--(1)perimenopause- this is the time frame before menopause when the period starts to change
(2) side effect of medication
(3) thyroid disease
(4)high levels of the hormone prolactin
(5) emotional stress or physical illness
(6)polycystic ovarian syndrome

If the irregularity continues then you would need to be assessed by your doctor.
This would include physical examination and blood tests.Imaging of the uterus may also be needed

I hope this helps
