Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, My periods are delay by 20 days and i have taken Regestrone 5 mg (twice a day) for 5 days. And its been 3 days i have completed my course, but i am still awaiting my periods. Please suggest how long i have to wait or any other medicine i should go for?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I think, you should wait for the periods for one more week. If periods doesn't come after that, you may need a combination of oestrogen and progesterone for inducing periods.
If it happens again or frequently, get a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound done to see uterus and ovaries to find out the cause of irregular periods.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Khushboo Priya
