When Does Metoprolol Become Active To Lower BP?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...How soon after I take my prescribed metoprolol should I see a decrease in my BP. For instance, if my systolic is 185 before I take my daily dose, how long should I wait to take it again to see if lowers?

The effect of medicine will typically begin at 30 minutes to one hour depending upon what was in your stomach at the time and the type of medication (sustained release or XL takes longer). Anytime that you are worried about a blood pressure, wait 15 minutes and check again.
