When Does Menstrual Bleeding Stop After Taking Norethisterone?
Hello I have a quick question and a little bit of a concern. My GP prescribed Norethisterone to stop my periods. I was suppose to start my period this coming Friday and was told to take the medication from Tuesday. Unfortunately i started my period yesterday. I spoke to my GP and she said to start taking the medication as from yesterday . Taking 3 times a day one 5mg tablet for first few days. Then to take 2 tablets daily. My question is when will the bleeding stop. Does it take a few days for this to happen? I fly out for A pilgrimage on Friday so I m a bit worried.

Norethisterone is taken for stoppage of menstual bleeding. Bleeding occurs normally because hormone level become very low to support uterine wall. So you start the drug and bleeding level defining stop as the effective concentration of drug achieved in the blood.
I hope that bleeding must stop before you leave home for pilgrimage.
