Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
A home
pregnancy test detects the presence of the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotrophin (
hCG), in your urine.
Your body starts to produce hCG when a fertilised egg implants in your
uterus (womb). It can be detected in your urine from about six to 14 days after fertilisation.
You can take most home
pregnancy tests three to four days before your missed period, but if you test too early, you're more likely to get a false negative.
If you have a negative result when you first test, it may be that the amount of hCG has not yet reached a level where it can be detected. Sometimes levels may still not be high enough to detect on the day your period is due. If your period is late, and the result is negative, wait for few more days and then test again.
The other ways to confirm pregnancy is by:
1. Detecting the hCG levels in blood sample.
2. Trans-
vaginal Ultrasound scan (TVS).
3. Signs of pregnancy by clinical examination.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
