When Must Rabies Vaccine Be Taken After A Dog Bite?
Had a dog bite last March 1, 2012. Had it cleaned with water and soap and had my tetanu injection after, and 7days taking of anti-biotics. It s a neighbor s pet dog with vaccine and the dog is okey. I still want an anti-rabies vaccine, Is it still okey to have it after 15days bite?
If you are bitten, and the dog is suspected to have rabies or has no record of vaccination, you should take the vaccine as soon as possible, within 3–5 days at the outset after the bite.
However, in your case if the dog seems to be vaccinated against rabies and if the efficacy of the vaccine is confirmed by laboratory and the fact that the dog is healthy even after 15 days following the bite, there is no need for you to take the vaccine.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
