When Should Cipro Be Taken After Being Diagnosed With Elevated PSA Levels?
Does it make sense to wait three weeks and take Cipro antibiotic after receiving an elevated PSA of 18? The last PSA was done in March 2017 and was 1.8. The only symptom that brought the problem to our attention was difficulty fully emptying the bladder with more frequent urination. Email address is YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hello,
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is checked to detect prostatic infection or an enlarged prostate or prostate cancer. So technically Cipro will not change value much if there is the prostate enlargement or cancer. So Cipro can be given for 14 days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Varinder Joshi
