Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take Glycomet Sr. 500 mg, twice; after breakfast and after dinner. While my fasting blood sugar is within limit, my post lunch sugar is between 160 to 180. Is the timing of my morning dose correct (I.e. after breakfast) ? Or should I take it at (slightly before) lunch ? So that my food intake will match with peak period of tablet s effectiveness. ( I.e. 1 to 3 hrs., after administration of dose).
Metformin is taken only after food. You are already taking it right. And I would suggest you also engage in some exercise like walking 40 minutes per day for 5 days a week. Only if there is no restriction advised by your doctors for any reason.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Jasmine Jagan
