i have TSH 8.29 and doctor has prescribed thyroxine sodium 25mcg. How much MAXIMUM time before the meals should i take it?IS THERE ANY HARM iF I WOULD TAKE MEALS MORE THAN 1HOUR AFTER TAKING MEDICINE . Should I take some calcium supplement alongwith it as it is said thyroid drugs drain calcium from body.

Hello, Welcome to HCM Thanks for posting your query in HCM.I understand your concern. Thyroxine sodium tablets should always be taken early in the morning in the empty stomach.After you take this tablets,you should not take anything for half an hour.
As such,there is no harm in taking the medicine 1 hour after taking food.But minimum half an hour interval should be there before you take food.
Also it is a wrong notion that thyroid will drain out the calcium from the body.There is no such thing.No need to take calcium along with this.If you are aged above 60 years,you can take calcium supplements,which is very much necessary to maintain the bone integrity in this age group.
