When Should The Bandage Around An Infected Finger Be Removed?

I had a very bad infection on my finger. I went to the ER and the doctor made an incision and drained it. It's been bandaged now for 3 days, but hurts a lot. Should I remove this bandage and clean it and re bandage it, or just leave the bandage on?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You should :
-remove the bandage
-clean the infected finger with peroxide hydrogen
-apply an antibiotic ointment
-cover it with a clean badage
Repeat the same thing every day for at least a week.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
