Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi..im a breastfeeding mom of a 6month old baby..i have decided to take daphne pill for the first time...but havent taken it at the first day of my menstruation..instead,i started taking it today on the 4th day of my period..when will the contaceptive be effective? Thanks..
At the outset I would advise you to consult a gynecologist for proper evaluation before starting the contraceptive pill.
One tablet of Daphane should be taken beginning on the 1st day of menstrual bleeding. Take 1 tab about the same time everyday, preferably at about the time of the evening meal for 28 days. With this method, you do not need to use a backup method as the pills are effective in preventing pregnancy right away.
Since you are planning to take the pills from Day 4th of your cycle, the pills will be effective after seven continuous days of use. So, with this method you need to use backup contraception (pregnancy protection) such as condoms or abstinence for at least 7 days.
Hope this answers your query.
