Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Where is the motor tract in the brain? I have a history of meningioma tumors, I had a craniotomy, but one of the tumors grew back. I have had two gamma knife surgeries, one of which was specifically for a tumor that grew back. Now I've been falling a lot. I remember my doctor in Denver saying that the two tumors removed in the craniotomy were close to the motor tract or track. This is the site where a tumor grew back. Could this be why I'm falling? Hello, Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic! I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns!
Motor tracts are the fibers that control the entire motor activity of your body like walking, writing and precise hand movements. Pyramidal tract is the major motor tract in the body and there are some other minor tracts which generally control the balance. The motor tract starts from the frontal lobe (located at the front of the brain) and pass through the brain stem(at the back) to enter the spinal cord. If the lesion affect the motor tract you might develop weakness. Most of the menigiomas are benign(non cancerous) and respond well to treatment. Hope I have answered your query. Wishing you good health.
Regards. Dr.Shinas Hussain
